Principal’s Message

Not Too Early To Be Thankful

The history teacher in me wants to tell you that Thanksgiving was made a national holiday during the Civil War.  In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln decreed Thanksgiving as a national holiday as an attempt to boost morale during this nation’s most trying time.

I have always loved Thanksgiving.  Aside from the family and food aspect, I appreciate the idea of taking time to give thanks for all we have in our lives.  Although we are a about a month away from my favorite holiday I’d thought I’d spend some time sharing my gratitude for what I experience in this amazing community of ours.

Thank you to the PTA and the tremendous support they give our students.

Thank you to volunteers who visit our school daily.  Whether it’s organizing a Walk-a-thon, working in the library, or engaging with students in the classroom, our volunteers are a vital aspect to the Springer experience.

Thank you to our Project Cornerstone crew who teach our children kindness, empathy, and respect for others

Thank you for our children, whose laughter, smiles, energy and humor fill my bucket everyday.

Thank you to our parents who sacrifice so much for the betterment of their children.

Thank you to the Springer staff, whose dedication, creativity, and caring make every day a great one at school.

I could go on and on about all the things I’m grateful for in our community.  There’s not enough space to mention them all.

Thank you and have a safe weekend.

Wade Spenader- Principal

Junior Olympics- Help Needed

The Junior Olympics takes place on Saturday, April 30th.  This great experience, for both students and spectators,  showcases 4th-6th graders across the district participating in a wide number of track-n-field events. The emphasis is always on doing one’s personal best.  The atmosphere is one of fun competition, school spirit, and sportsmanship.

In order to give our students this experience, we are looking for people to assist us in the coordination and logistics of Springer’s team.  You do not have to be an upper grade parent to help, andisupport is provided by the outgoing committee members to help facilitate a smooth transition to this year’s Junior Olympics Committee .

This is a very impactful way to contribute to the students of Springer.  If you are interested in helping to give our upper grade students an experience that they talk about for years after, please contact Wade Spenader (wspenader@lasdschools.org).

Noon Duty Position Open

Do you want to get involved at Springer in a super fun and positive way?  Do you like to play?  If so, you might be interested in the noon duty position opening we have currently.   The position requires you to supervise, interact, and engage yourself with the students of Springer at lunchtime.  It’s only an hour a day (11:45am-12:45pm) and it is a paid position!  If you, or anyone you know, is interested please contact Principal Wade Spenader.    wspenader@lasdschools.org

Photo Make-up Day
