Principal’s Message

Dear Parents,

Twas the week before the holiday

the school community was buzzing

There was so much happening…

Colorful hair, shirts, holiday and school spirit

If you just peered through the window

You would see warm soft scarves, blankets and sparkling, cinnamon scent wreaths

A glance to my left and what did I see but a gingerbread boy on the loose

Kindergartners searching only to find he was hidden in their room

With rain falling upon us the tea party called to us

And the Velveteen Rabbit tea began

But  to my wondering ears did I hear,  the music and singing of our Springer Singers

And our Winter Concert student entertainers

Oh, the year has been grand

And the new year will bring in the joy of our students learning and growing

So I wish you all a joyous holiday!

Take a look at what has been happening. Author Visit,  Springer Gives Back, gingerbread hunt, Velveteen Rabbit Tea, Springer Singers and our Springer Orchestra, Band and Chorus.

The Springer students worked very hard with their buddy classes making wreaths, scarves, blankets and tote bags during our Third Annual Springer Gives Back Event.  These items were donated to the following organizations:

  • Jame’s Inn

  • Grail Family Services

  • Hope’s Corner

  • Next Door Solutions

We hope you all enjoyed the week as much as we did.   Our staff is so grateful for the support of LAEF and the PTA. The events we have embarked on this year thus far have been the  reflection of the numerous volunteers (parents, teachers, staff and students) who are committed to creating positive learning opportunities.  The Springer Staff wish you all a safe and Happy Holiday!

Two weeks left for corporate matching in 2016

Did you know that in 2015/16, LAEF received $590,000 in corporate matching funds? Wow! With less than 20 days until the end of the tax year now is the time to submit a matching request to your company (or to make your tax-deductible annual donation for 2016). Find out if your company matches by going to www.doublethedonation.com/laef or donate at LAEFonline.org.

Computer Science Rocks in LASD!

LASD joined schools around the world to celebrate Computer Science Education Week December 5-9. This annual event was dedicated to inspiring K-12 students to take interest in computer science. Our students participated in the Hour of Code program organized by Code.org. This year’s LASD theme was Code with a Buddy and TRY Something NEW. Go to LAEFOnline.org and find out why it's important to learn computer science and what LASD students in each grade are learning this year.
