Principal’s Message |
Dear Families, Wow, what a Springer Thing kind of week! We had the fabulous book drive with incredible books to select from. My family left with five… we just couldn’t decide on which books to purchase. I’m sure your family added a few good books to your family collection. This activated the I= Inquisitive: I am curious Springer Thing in your child. Then we had a book drive and food drive lead by our Springer Ambassadors. The Springer Student Ambassadors along with the entire school embraced the project by filling 15 boxes of both new and gently used books to donate to the children in need. Our students surpassed their 1000 can collection by a few hundred more. This was a week for our students and staff of paying forward. We were DEFINITELY FILLING OTHERS BUCKETS! The Ambassadors and teachers all rallied around the cause. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to further the Springer Thing! N= Nurturing, I will care for others: R= I am a person you can count on.
As a wrapped up the week our kinders and TK celebrated the holiday with song and historical facts intertwined. Enjoy the time off with your family and friends and be safe in your travels. If you celebrate Thanksgiving - Happy Thanksgiving and if you don’t - Happy Time with Family! Lynn Boskie, Principal Buzzz… |
Help… our neighboring school Loyola Elementary School is in need of noon duty coverage. If you are interested or know of anyone who is interested please contact the Principal, Kimberly Attell at 254-2400. |
Holiday Wish Drive |
Dear Springer Families, Are you ready to "Bee Generous" and make a difference this holiday season? Springer School and our Girl Scout Juniors Troop #61166 are excited to announce that we will be hosting a Family Giving Tree Holiday Wish Drive this year! Since 1990, the Family Giving Tree has fulfilled gift wishes for over one million San Francisco Bay Area children, families and seniors from low-income households. In 2015 alone, they fulfilled more than 72,000 holiday wishes, 85% of those being children’s wishes. Your participation in our Holiday Wish Drive is an opportunity for you to personally, positively influence the lives of less fortunate people in our community. Here's how you can help: Choose a wish card in the Springer office and fulfill a child’s wish. Cards will be hanging on our "Bee Generous Giving Tree", starting Monday, November 28. All gift donations should be unwrapped with the wish card and a toothbrush securely taped to the package. Gifts are due in the office by Friday, December 9. Please contact Diana Rudolph (drudolph@lasdschools.org) or Gail Roosakos (gail@roosakos.com) if you have any questions, or visit www.FamilyGivingTree.org for more information about the program. Thank you for helping us bring hope and joy to those in need! |

Cornerstone Corner |
Between now and Winter Break the Springer students, staff, and community are being encouraged to do one kind thing for another student every day. The purpose in encouraging “intentional acts of kindness” is to help students develop empathy and express tolerance for others. Take this opportunity to have conversations around caring, empathy, and compassion. Encourage your child to actively seek out opportunities to help, care for, and encourage others. More than 500 students performing daily acts of caring for three weeks equals over 7,500 buckets filled! Check out this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLIW8JWk1RI&NR=1 on teaching Tolerance to our kids. |
