Principal’s Message |
Dear Parents, This week my mother turned 81. I called her but I knew she would already be at school getting ready for the day. Hard work and never setting limits on what we’re capable of doing, was an example my mom set for my siblings and I. As I reflect on the examples she set, it made me realize that we all model behavior each day as we interact with our children, the students, teachers, parents, friends and acquaintances. Students’ academic and social needs are always front and center for our staff. As I walked through the classrooms I observed teachers working in small groups with students and I had the pleasure of working with a group of students in math. Students and teachers were sharing and practicing social interaction through their classroom meetings. On Thursday after most of the students had left for home, two students came into the office to drop off the flags that had been left out--just one example of students paying it forward. Be safe, rest well and enjoy. Lynn Boskie Principal

This year our grading reporting tool is PowerSchool. Prior to BTSN you received information from the district about this tool. We will continue using standards-based grading this year. |
Get Ready To Play Springer-opoly! The Walk-a-thon Is Coming! |
Springer-opoly is coming this year to Springer's Walk-a-thon. We'll transform the field into a life sized gameboard as we complete laps at our annual fall fundraiser. Save the date: the Walk-a-thon is Saturday, October 15 from 10-3. Congratulations to Joelle Lim, James Cunningham, Kate Ramko, Brenden O'Leary, Pranav Kausik, Elia Grisanti, Leah Bilstad, and Bella Dachille, our Walk-a-thon t-shirt designers. To make this all-school event a huge success, we're counting on all families to volunteer on the day of the event. Most shifts are one-hour, require no training, and are a fun way to participate and socialize with other Springer families. Check out available shifts at Walk-a-thon sign-up! We need sponsors for the 2016 Walk-a-thon. Sponsorship at any level can make a difference. Donate prizes, giveaways for students, or get your company logo printed on the ever-popular Walk-a-thon t-shirt. Contact Claudine Sheridan (claudine3c [at] yahoo [dot] com) for information or questions. |

PTA Corner |
A huge thanks to all who have submitted your donations via the Back to School form! It is so rewarding to see the impact of our PTA dollars at work all over the school. In case your kids haven't mentioned it, here are a few recent projects... *PTA outfitted the library with new furniture including innovative tables and chairs that allow for flexible use of space as well as comfy new seating where kids can curl up with a book. *PTA money and manpower installed the GaGa pit which is offering all grade levels hours of entertainment at recess! *PTA collaborated with a generous Eagle Scout and Living Classroom staff to provide four new planter boxes in the kinder yard to be used for Living Classroom lessons. At our September meeting we approved the budget for 2016/17 which prioritizes curriculum support and campus improvements. There are still plenty of ways to get involved in PTA so please don't hesitate to reach out if you would like to participate! The best way to reach us is via springerpta@gmail.com. |

Class Groups |
The PTA has created a google group for each classroom, for communications from your room parents, and for discussions between the parents. It is very important that at least one parent from each family is a member of the Class Group, as otherwise you will miss communications about activities in your classroom, special events at Springer, etc. A google account is NOT required to be a member of the Class Groups, or to send/receive messages. A google account is only required if you want to view/access the group website. All parents have already been added to their Class Group(s). Please check your SPAM folder(s) if you have not received any group messages. Contact Springer.Groups[at]gmail[dot]com with any questions. |

Lunchtime Activities – Funvisor Program |
Springer is one of the unique elementary schools in our district that has lunchtime activities for our kids. How many of your children have come home with a lanyard with runner tokens on it, a personal poem or story written in Scribes, or an artistic design to hang on their walls from Art Club? For years Springer has had programs open to all students at lunchtime where they enjoy being creative, learning new skills, and staying healthy. But we can’t do it with out your help. Make an impact on the Springer children. Please consider volunteering, 1 or 2 lunches per month, or more, for either: Art, Lego, Run4YourLife, Board Games, Garden, Scribes, Volleyball, and Yoga. Questions or need more information, email Jenni Tellefsen at jentellefsen@gmail.com |
