Principal’s Message

Staffing for Next Year!

While we lose Kathy Panec and Kathy Hartley to retirement, the Springer staff remains outstanding, with a couple of new additions.  As of today, the staff includes:

Principal- Ms. Lynn Boskie

Transitional Kindergarten- Ms. Bence

Kindergarten- Mrs. Crew, Ms. Hancock, Mrs. Mooers

1st Grade- Ms. Becking, Ms. Fulcher, Mrs. Goldner

2nd Grade- Ms. Bain, Mrs. de Monet, Mrs. Farwell

3rd Grade- Mrs.Lammay/Mrs. Hayden, Mrs. Jones, Ms. Williams

4th Grade- Ms. Hultberg, Ms. McLean, Ms. Mitchell

5th Grade- Mrs. Buck, Mrs. Kuypers, Mrs. Van Dyken

6th Grade- Ms. Mort, Mrs. Robb, Ms. Rubinstein

SDC- Mrs. Morris (1st-3rd), Mrs. Sen (4th-6th)

Resource- Ms. Sasaki

We welcome Ms. Jill Williams to our 3rd grade team.  Ms. Williams is an LASD graduate and has been teaching at Almond for 20 years.  She is very eager to join our staff and is looking forward to her new Springer environment.  Ms. Williams spent the day with us on Wednesday and thoroughly enjoyed her time.  She met many of our 2nd graders.

We say a fond farewell to Ms. Julie Presant who will be teaching at a junior high in Santa Cruz. Ms. Presant is truly a gifted teacher who will be a blessing to her new school.   She is, simply, one of the best.

We welcome Mrs. Lauren Robb to our 6th grade team.  Mrs. Robb grew up in Boise, Idaho and moved to southern California to attend Claremont McKenna College. She graduated with a degree in psychology and worked in Chicago and Washington, DC before returning to the West Coast. Lauren went back to school last fall to get her Masters Degree in Education and Teaching Credential from UC Santa Cruz. When she's not teaching or writing papers, Lauren enjoys hiking in the hills with her husband and their golden retriever, painting, and listening to a good audiobook.

Finally, as this is the last Buzz message I will write as Springer’s principal, I want to say THANK YOU to the entire community.  Seven years ago, as a brand new principal, the Springer community welcomed me with warmth and love.  It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know your children and your family.  Together, we have done some fantastic things- all for the betterment of our students.  I will always look back at my years at Springer with a view that it was 7 of the best years of my career.

All the best,

Wade Spenader- Principal

Important Announcements For The Last Day of School

The Sixth Grade Promotion Ceremony is at 9:00am.  School is dismissed at 11:15am.

School Supplies Collection

Hello Springer parents! Since the end of the school year is fast approaching, most of your children will be cleaning out their desks and backpacks of their school supplies. Instead of throwing these away, it would be greatly appreciated if you would drop them in the cardboard box in the office labeled, "Supplying Schools." Supplying Schools is a club at Mountain View high school that collects gently used school supplies from LASD schools and donates them to schools in East Palo Alto whose teachers are taking money out of their own paychecks to buy supplies for their students. Please drop off pencils, pens, markers, colored pencils, crayons, binders, folders, pencil boxes, sharpeners, scissors, backpacks, and any other supplies that are in decent condition. We really appreciate all that you have to offer. The supplies will be collected on June 9. Thank you!

Springer Scribes Available Online!

The Springer Scribes literary journal was released to great enthusiasm this Wednesday. The authors spent their lunch hour signing autographs for their admiring fans and fellow writers. The students demonstrated both amazing creativity as well as support for each other. If you would like to read the stories and poems yourself, a PDF version is available on the Springer website.

Tween & Teen Talks This Summer

CHAC is excited to offer this new Tween/Teen Talk curriculum free this summer to any students in 5th- 10th grade.  We have two groups scheduled to start the last week of June, one at the Sunnyvale School District Office and another at our CHAC office in Mountain View.  For more information click here.  For Spanish version click here.

Attention 6th Grade Parents: Hot Lunch Volunteers at Blach

Congratulations to all of your graduating 6th graders.  For those of you with children entering Blach next year that would like to help out at the school, please consider volunteering to serve lunch.  This is a fun way to see the kids in action and one of the very few opportunities for volunteering at Blach. In the past, sign ups happen at the back to school coffee, but now we start serving lunch on the first day of school.  Because of this, crews are being set up now.  It is a great way to stay connected to other parents from your elementary school and also to meet new parents. There is plenty of room to organize a small group that wants to work together.

Please contact me at srkhuntia@yahoo.com if you'd like to volunteer or if you have any questions.  Please let me know what days work for you and if you would like to volunteer every week or every other week or would like to be put on the substitute list.  Please also let me know if you want to be scheduled with specific people.
