Are you aware that we have a ShopSpringer (www.shopspringer.com) website where 4-12% of your purchases are paid directly to our PTA, just for directing traffic to their sites?!? On this site you will find active links to a variety of online vendors, including Amazon, iTunes and Walmart.com.   Rest assured that using this site will have no impact on pricing, discounts, special shipping offers, etc..  So by simply stopping first at ShopSpringer.com, on your way to Amazon, you make $$$ for our kids!!!

Thank you for your support!

Project Cornerstone

This month’s theme is to “Be an Upstander”.  This message is not only for our students.  It applies to all parents, teachers, staff, and community members.  When an adult sees or hears someone dipping other’s buckets, breaking school rules, playing unsafely, etc., it is expected that EVERYONE step up and say something.

Below is the Project Cornerstone suggested “10 Second Intervention for Negative behaviors:

The escalator of bullying behavior, harassment and intimidation begins with language.  It continues to escalate until the adults draw a clear line for the students about what is and isn’t appropriate with language or inappropriate behavior.

·      Stop when you hear or see misbehavior or something inappropriate being said

·      Turn calmly to whoever said the inappropriate statement

·      Name the specific words or action .  Say something like:

o   “We don’t talk like that at Springer.  Please don’t say it again.”

o   “That’s inappropriate language for school.  Please don’t say it again.”

Then move on.  No lecture or full “teachable Moment

Don’t leave it up to another person on campus.  As Springer parents, teachers, and students, let’s make school a more caring place for ALL kids. We hope you will join us in this effort. Take a couple minutes each day to make a difference in the lives of the students at school.IF YOU SEE SOMEONE DOING SOMETHING POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE, NOTICE IT, NAME IT, and MOVE ON. Frequent use of the 10-second intervention sends a consistent and strong message to youth about what adults will permit at our school. It is up to ALL of us to make Springer the best school it can be!  Remember the wisdom of, “What we permit, we promote.”

Living Classroom

Become a LIVING CLASSROOM docent... share your love of nature with kids!
