LAEF

150 Families & $73,277 To Go: Summer is around the corner which means LAEF only has 2-1/2 weeks to raise $73,277 to fulfill our promise and grant to LASD for 2014-15. There are 150 families who gave last year, but not yet this year. Please donate today or request a match from your company to pay for the programs your child has enjoyed THIS current year, including STEM, PE, art, library, music and smaller class sizes in K-3.   We strive for 100% participation from our families, and it’s not too late to give. Please donate at laefonline.net or drop a check in our school’s office this week.  Thank you.

LAEF Parent Survey Results Are In! The 2015 LAEF Parent Survey Results are now available at www.laefonline.net. Close to 1,800 families completed our annual survey. Thank you! Your voice has helped LAEF determine our funding priorities for 2015-16 while also providing the focus for our strategic planning sessions with LASD leadership.  We look forward to announcing our 2015-16 grant before the end of May.

Honoring Funvisor Student Volunteers!

This week Springer celebrated 250 hours of collective volunteer service completed by seventy-five 4th-6th graders at Springer School. These students volunteered time during their noontime recess to help out in Springer’s weekly Arts and Games Club, just one of Springer’s unique Noontime Fun!visor Clubs. In addition to providing valuable assistance with more complicated arts projects, these student volunteers had the important job of helping make younger students feel welcome. They provided good role models for other students and helped encourage positive interaction between grade levels at Springer. Specifically this year these students taught younger grades how to make friendship bracelets, write riddles, play mastermind and boggle, set and bump a volleyball, dance, and compete in music trivia games. Springer’s Fun!visor Programs are run by parent and student volunteers and offer fabulous activities for kids to chose from at noontime recess including Volleyball, LEGO Club, YOGA, GardenZone, Run4YourLife, and Springer Scribes. The Arterrific Stinger Volunteer Program and the Arts and Games Club will return next year! Parents are encouraged to dream up their own programs or come volunteer at one of already established clubs next year! Questions, contact Laurie Pasmooij.
