We will also be accepting monetary donations for the All for Books organization; which supports the school program of the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital and allows hospitalized children to continue their education.

If you can’t find it in the multi, you’ll likely find it on the online fair, with 65% more books than we can fit in the Multi. All orders are shipped to Springer free of charge.

Please discuss your family’s purchasing guidelines before the event to help children make good choices. A hold area will be available daily if you prefer to make purchase decisions together after school.

As this is a fundraiser, all sales are final.

What is Peachjar?

Los Altos School District cooperates with community groups and organizations that sponsor activities of an educational/enrichment nature for students by distributing materials electronically via Peachjar.  All requests for flyer distribution by outside community organizations must first be approved by the District Office.  To request flyer approval, follow the steps listed at the link on the LASD Website.  Once approved, your flyer will be emailed to all parents and posted online.  Our Springer website also has a Peachjar link so that you may view the e-flyers anytime.  Click here to check it out.

Toy Drive

Brownie Troop 61166 is collecting new unwrapped toys, books, and stuffed animals to donate to the Los Altos Fire Departments Annual Toy Drive. Toys are distributed to local families in need for the holidays. We will be collecting in a box near the office through Wednesday, November 12th. Any questions? Contact Gail Roosakos gail@roosakos.com

Candy For the Troops

Cadette Troop 60875 is collecting candy for the troops through Operation Comfort and Care.  The candy must be wrapped in the original wrappers. Friday, November 7 is the last day to drop off candy.  It will be picked up from the Springer Office after school.

Campus Beautification Work Day on November 22

The Springer Teaching Garden is in dire need of some TLC, and many hands make light work.  If you are in town for the Thanksgiving break, please join us on Saturday, Nov 22, between 9am-3pm (for any amount of time you are able) to work in the garden.   We will be repairing the fencing, installing new native plants and shrubs (which are used in the Living Classroom garden lessons), spreading mulch, etc.  Bring a refillable water bottle, gardening gloves, and any gardening tools you have (such as a shovel, trowel, pick axe, wheelbarrow, mulch shovel or rake, etc.).

Please contact Donna Murphy (jcdrm[at]yahoo[dot]com) if you are available to help us out that (or any other) day, or have any questions.

The Springer Juggling Club

The Juggling Club is a club that meets every Wednesday from 7:30 AM to 8:25 AM in the multi. Anyone in grades four and above can join for free, any time of the year. It's actually not that hard to start juggling, and should you encounter any problems, the juggling teachers and some helpful jugglers can get you through the bumps on the road. It can take only one year of being in this club for you to be able to learn several techniques, and even a few fancy tricks. Once you get juggling three balls down (and it's actually not that hard) you can spend the last 5 to 10 minutes of the class juggling with some cool objects including chinese yo-yos, rings, clubs... The Juggling Club is a really fun club to at least try, and before you know it, you'll be juggling 3-4 balls at a time!

Fun!visor on Fridays

Every other Friday students have a choice of three fabulous parent-run Fun!visor programs at lunch: Run4YourLife, Volleyball, and GardenZone. Last Friday in GardenZone students were introduced to something very special: the Art of Beekeeping with everything you need but the bees. Jeff Fixler, 4th grade parent and lead for GardenZone, brought his beekeeping equipment, which included a suit for students to try on and an empty hive box, as well as empty honeycomb, filled honeycomb, and honey to sample!  How appropriate a theme for our students as the Bee is our mascot! Thank you Jeff!

Student Extracurricular Activities:

There are after-school activities at Springer for all grade levels.  For a list of all of the activities and more information, please go to Springer’s website by clicking here.

Parent Education Opportunities

Through enriching presentations from local and national experts on topics of interest to parents, faculty and staff, the MVLA Parent Education Speaker Series seeks to contribute to the academic, physical, and emotional health of our students. All events are free of charge and are for parents, faculty and staff in Los Altos and Mountain View public schools. For a schedule of upcoming presentations, please click here.
