WANTED: Science Faire Judges:  On March 13th, Springer will host its annual Science-o-Rama.  This event allows our budding scientists to display their experiments that either prove or disprove their hypothesis.  We are in need of judges who can commit an afternoon at Springer to judge the 5th and 6th grade entries.  A science background is nice, but certainly not necessary in order to judge.  Training is provided and your input makes a huge difference to the kids.  If interested, please contact Wade Spenader.

PTA Meeting Summary
At the January PTA meeting, the iPad funding proposal was approved to purchase 27 iPads, covers, and headphones for the first grade.  The entire cost of the proposal is $16K and will come out of the large budget carryover we have.  First grade teachers explained how they would use the iPads in their classrooms to reinforce what is being taught in the classroom.

Our thanks to teachers Chris Goldner and Julie Jenkins, who made a presentation about the writing process, including descriptions and expectations of the genres at various grade levels, and how parents can support their children with writing at home.

Lastly, our Nominating Committee for the 2012-13 PTA Board was ratified: Kathy Grundhofer, Donna Murphy, Julie Panontin, Lara Rahn, Manisha Shah, Jamie Lee (alternate), and Amanda Steele (alternate).  Our thanks to these parents for their important work to create the slate of officers for next school year!
