What a week! Who knew the sugar highs and crashes lasted so long? Well, I guess we all did. . . Regardless, we had a great week and the kids are asking when they get to throw water drenched puff balls at me again! Fortunately, our students are kind and I came through it a little wet, but unharmed! I have to admit, it is fun for me to not just oversee the kids, but play like one sometimes, too!
LASD Illuminate is now open for registration! Illuminate LASD invites students to become experts, innovators, and change-makers. This Monday, November 9th we will be having our celebration for students who are graduating from our EL Program and are now officially Multi-Lingual, being proficient in English and their home language (sometimes even more languages). We are so proud and excited to share this exciting moment with the community. If your child is among those re-classifying, please be sure to join us at our Monday Assembly at 8:30 AM.
We will have an ELAC (English Language Advisory Committee) meeting immediately following the assembly at 9:00 AM. If you are the parent of a student who speaks more than one language, please join us!
Lastly, please note that we do not have school next Wednesday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day.
Warmly,
Principal March

Honey loves visiting Kindergarten, and this week with Mrs. Lammay was not a disappointment! Honey is always so surprised at how much they grow in such a short time. Here Honey is working with students in their Math Stations. It is amazing how many skills the students are gaining in math through their station work with tangram puzzles, unifix cubes, and games with spinners. It goes to show that math is everywhere!!!

Henry really enjoyed visiting Mr. Ramirez's class this week. He learned more about Mr. Ramirez’s cultural tradition of Dia De Las Muertos and saw the altar he put in where the students were invited to place pictures of loved ones who have passed to be remembered. Also, the students were doing really interesting research on space. Henry was talking to one group who was doing research on Black Holes, the student explained to him that Einstein predicted the existence of Black Holes before they were actually discovered. Henry thought that was an amazing fact and the student simply responded, “that’s the beauty of math!” Yep, this is fifth grade!!!
