Dear Springer Families,
As we mark September 11, we pause to remember and honor the lives that were lost and the many people whose lives were forever changed on that day. While our students were not yet born to experience the events of September 11, the spirit of this day is still meaningful at Springer. We remember not only the tragedy, but also the incredible ways people came together to support, care for, and lift one another during a very difficult time. That spirit of community is something we strive to nurture every day at Springer. We want our students to understand the importance of kindness, empathy, courage, and looking out for one another - especially during challenging times. We are grateful for the community we have here and for the many ways our families, students, and staff support one another.
Heat Precaution🥵
With the extreme heat we are experiencing, please remember to send your child to school each day with a water bottle clearly labeled with their name. Staying hydrated is especially important during these warmer days. On days of extreme heat, students may also come into the library or the Multi during appropriate times to cool down.
📆 Save the Date: Multicultural Fair
Please mark your calendars for the PTA’s Multicultural Fair on Friday, September 18, at 5:30 p.m. This is always a wonderful evening of camaraderie, connection, and learning as we come together to share and celebrate the many cultures, traditions, and the stories that make our community so special. We hope you will join us and share a part of your own story with us!

For those interested in beginning the process to becoming a volunteer within the Los Altos School District, please visit the link here: https://www.lasdschools.org/volunteer to determine which level you want to begin.
For parents who began this process at the end of last school year, you still need to fill out the Level One volunteer form and TB test. They were not available last year when you began the process.
LEVEL ONE VOLUNTEER FORMS:
- The CDPH TB Risk Assessment forms can be found here.
- If no TB risk factors are identified, submit your signed form (page 4) to be cleared to volunteer.
- If TB risk factors are identified by the health care provider, the volunteer must undergo appropriate TB testing prior to being cleared. Submit a negative TB test result to be cleared to volunteer.

We’re excited to share that Live Scan will be available at our Walkathon on October 17, 2026! This will give parents and guardians an opportunity to complete the fingerprinting required by LASD while they’re on campus celebrating with our Springer community.

Honey spent the week in Mrs. Guindy’s class because they showed such excellent physical and emotional safety last week, during our safety goal for BEES Behavior.
Honey learned so much about Number Corner this week. She was really impressed with how the students looked and different addition problems and found patterns between the numbers. They worked so well together, sharing ideas, making predictions and finding all kinds of new “tricks” in addition that are provided by the patterns they uncovered. Honey is definitely a mathematician now!

Henry spent the week in Mrs. Jones’s class. Her class has been such a welcoming and supportive class this year - they certainly show how to be both empathetic and emotionally safe with one another.
Henry watched the sixth graders show how to solve math problems in different ways. That was new to him, he thought you just had to memorize a formula - I guess he learned something new! He also loved watching the students make their “wanted posters” on diseases caused by viruses, bacteria, fungus or protists. Such villains these viruses and bacteria can be!
