Hello Springer Families,
It was so wonderful to see so many of you at Back to School Night! There is something special about having our community come together; families connecting with one another, meeting teachers, learning more about the year ahead, and sharing in the excitement of all that is to come.
One of the things that makes Springer such a special place is the strong sense of connection among our students, families, and teachers. When we work together and stay connected, we create the kind of community where children feel known, supported, and excited to learn.
We are looking forward to a wonderful year filled with learning, growth, laughter, and connection. Thank you for being such an important part of our Springer community, and a special thank you to our PTA and LAEF for your continued partnership and support. We are so grateful for all you do to help make our school such a vibrant and welcoming place for our children!7

Sixth grader Aashi was recognized by fellow sixth grader Amritha for our peer BEES award honor. Amritha stated, "She makes me feel included. Also she never thinks the worst of people”

What a wonderful coincidence! Honey got to be in Mrs. Capriles’ class this week for being so EMPATHETIC and kind to one another, and also showed great forgiveness when they found themselves facing challenges. What made this so great, is that Mrs. Capriles also did Honey’s favorite activity this week!
The stem challenge where they had to work together to build the highest tower they could using just dry spaghetti noodles and playdough. They worked so well together, just look at these results!!

Henry had a wonderful week in Mrs. Mora’s class. Henry got to stay with Mrs. Mora’s class because they demonstrated wonderful EMPATHY for a new student who joined the classroom, and welcomed him so kindly. Beyond just watching the children having such a great time learning new things, Henry wanted to share all the learning he saw that was happening, even when he wasn’t there.
The walls were covered with charts, graphs, post-its, questions, wonderings, organizing and student thoughts. It is quite clear that Mrs. Mora is the adult in the room, but the thinking, learning, and doing is definitely student-led!!

For 44 years, LAEF has funded the teachers, staff, and programs that make our students’ education exceptional beyond what public funding covers.
Beginning in 2026–27, LAEF is expanding its role by fundraising for instructional programs and materials that were previously supported by the PTAs. This change allows us to provide more consistent support for these programs across every LASD school. This is a shift in fundraising responsibility, not educational priorities, creating clearer roles and simpler giving for families. So we are asking you to shift some of their donations toward LAEF, in a similar way to how the fundraising responsibilities are shifting.

The Art Docent training program gives new volunteers everything they need to feel confident bringing art into the classroom. Trainees explore all the art mediums we teach while learning classroom management skills, how to lead engaging discussions, and how to give effective demonstrations.
New Docent Training takes place on Thursday mornings from 8:45–11:30 a.m. starting September 3rd and includes technique, art content, and general program topics. Once training begins, new docents gradually gain classroom experience—assisting in September, co-leading in November and December, and moving into assisting, co-leading, and leading lessons from January through May.
Join us! It’s a wonderful way to learn something new, share your creativity, and make a lasting impact on our students!
