Principal's Message

Hello Springer Families,

I cannot tell you what a pleasure it has been to have your children back on campus the last couple of days. A school isn’t a school without the happy “buzz” of learning and laughter from children. The prior two weeks were definitely too quiet for my liking, so I am glad we are ALL back!

It was a wonderful start to the year. I was so very impressed with how well all of our new Stingers quickly settled in and proud of our veteran Stingers for being so welcoming and supportive. I have said it many times before, but will say it again, Springer is a very special place indeed!

🚨 Parking Lot Expectations🚨

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Ensuring the safety of our students is our highest priority, and proper pick-up and drop-off procedures are essential to maintaining a safe and orderly environment for everyone at Springer. Please take a moment to familiarize yourselves with the parking lot expectations before and after school.

Reminders, etc. . .

  • Please remember that we have staggered release time, so when some of our younger classes are getting out, our upper grade is still learning. We ask that you please wait for you child at the end of the corridor on the blacktop, not in front of their classrooms. Also, we ask that children not run and play by the classrooms while other classes are still in session. Upper grade classes are released at 3:00 PM.
  • It has been quite hot lately! Please remember to send your child with a water bottle that they can refill during the day and don’t forget to put their name on it. Many bottles look alike and it can get confusing sometimes!
  • If you arrive late please make sure to come into the office for a blue slip, do not send your child directly to the classroom. We want to make sure there is no miscommunication between the office and the classroom in the event of an emergency. If you are a TK or Kinder parent who is picking up a child during lunch or recess, you will also need to come into the office to get a blue slip. Teachers and IAs will not release a child to anyone that comes up to the gate without a blue slip from the office.

Monday Assemblies
  • We will be starting our Weekly Assemblies this Monday, August 18 at 8:30 AM, please feel free to stay and join us if you are able. Aside from updates about school for the students, PTA and others present helpful information for parents about volunteer opportunities and other valuable information!

Thank you again for an absolutely wonderful start to the year. I cannot WAIT to see what is in store for us.

Warmly,
Mrs. March

Daily Office Reminders

🏫 Reporting Attendance 🏫

We want to provide you all with some information regarding absences and Appointments.

If a student cannot attend school or has an appointment, parents must contact the office:
  • Send an e-mail to springerattendance@lasdschools.org cc your child's teacher (preferred method)
  • leave a message on the attendance line at (650) 943-4240
  • Or submit an online google form

Always provide:
  1. Student’s Full Name & Teacher
  2. Your relationship to the student
  3. Detailed reason for absence. (Due to tracking purposes, simply saying your child is sick will not suffice.)

If you will be bringing your child late to school, they must first check into the office and receive a blue slip. This slip will then be handed to their teacher for notification that your child is here.

If your child will miss an extended number of school days; we can offer an Independent Study Plan (ISP). Please request this atleast 5 days in advance to allow proper time to get materials ready.

When to keep Students home:

If your child has a fever, they must be 24hrs fever free without medicine before returning to school.

For vomiting/diarrhea, they may return to school after 24 hours if there is only one episode of vomiting with no other symptoms. If there is more than 1 episode of vomiting and/or diarrhea, your child must stay home for 48 hours.

Coughing, Sneezing, runny nose and rash should be taken seriously and students should be kept home to minimize the spread of germs.
