Traffic and Parking Lot Procedures

To insure the safety of Springer students and parent drivers, it is critical that you follow these procedures both during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up:

  • Parking Lot Illustration
The yellow curb is for pick up and drop off only. Do not leave your car, even for one minute. Instruct your child to be ready to exit or enter your car. If a volunteer valet is present he or she will help your child with backpacks, instruments, or other belongings.
  • Children should exit only at the curb side of the car. Do not drop off or pick up from the outer lane or in the parking lot before parking your car — this is very dangerous.
  • At afternoon pick up, if your child is not already waiting for you, drive through to allow a continual flow of traffic. Either enter the pick up line again or park your vehicle in the lot or on the street.
  • Drive as far forward as you can before stopping at the yellow curb, even if you see no one behind you. Do not cut in line. An orange cone marks where the carpool drop off/pick up line starts.
  • Keep pulling forward as spaces in front of you open up. Do not block the crosswalk.
  • Use the crosswalk to cross the carpool lanes to and from the parking lot.
  • Drive slowly (5mph) and cautiously while in the carpool lanes or elsewhere in the parking lot. NEVER BACK UP ALONG THE CURB. There may be children behind your car. Take care when entering from or exiting onto Rose Avenue.
  • Do not park or stop along the red curb in front of the office. This area is for buses or emergency vehicles only.
  • Do not stop your car in the parking lot driveways while waiting for your children. It is unsafe and blocks cars leaving the lot.
  • Please be courteous to our traffic volunteers. They are there to keep everyone safe.
