Letter from the PTA Co-Presidents

August 27, 2009

Welcome to the new school year from the Springer PTA! We especially want to extend a warm welcome to our new families, we look forward to you becoming part of our Springer Community. The students are off to a great start. For the first three days each student wore a name tag to help everyone, including Mr. Spenader, get to know each other.

We had a very successful Back to School Coffee last Wednesday, thanks to all who attended and agreed to lend a helping hand. If you missed this event, it is not too late, please fill out the volunteer interest form in the Back to School Packet and we will match a job to your strengths. Also, there will be sign-ups for classroom activities at Back to School Night on September 2nd. Bring your calendar.

Coming up on September 8th we would like to invite you to the first PTA meeting of the year, at 7:00 pm in the staff room. The topics will be the current PTA budget, approving our programs for the year, and a finale of Mr. Spenader talking about recent STAR test results and our new programs at Springer. An event not to be missed!

One of our PTA goals for the year is to improve our communication from the school and PTA to families. We started with the launch of the new Springer website and changed style of the Springer STAR. If you have an idea about an improvement for Springer PTA, please drop a note into the new suggestion box in the office. We want to hear from you. Please keep topics to PTA issues; classroom ideas should be directed to teachers/staff.

Lastly, mark your calendar for a night to socialize with your childÂ’s teacher and other families at the Family Picnic on Sept 10th.

Warm regards,

Wendy Sarathy and Kelly Toshach
