PTA Meetings: Monthly PTA meetings are held at 7-9 pm on the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the Springer Staff room. All parents and staff are welcome.

Springer School PTA Goals for 2007-08

Building for the Future Using Technology and Enrichment

Foundation:  Set the foundation for the future with a strong base of the traditional core subjects such as reading and writing but branching out to add more technology and enrichment programs for a well-rounded educational experience.

Technology

• Continue our support of Springer’s technology program
• Fill in gaps for laptop cart leases
• Computer maintenance

Academic:

• Purchase 6^th grade math books
• Continue Birthday Book program at the beginning of the year.
• 1^st Grade Literacy Support
• Behavior specialist Support
• Math aides
• Office Management including crossing guard for Rose Ave
• Grade specific assemblies targeting educational and social issues for that grade level
• Continue funding teacher supplies at the higher level        
• Provide funding  for staff to expand their instructional skills

Enrichment:

• Book club
• Science-o-rama club Grades 3-4-5
• Continuation of lunchtime sports programs
• Support the life-skills program
• ‘Klutz-like’ art program by volunteers (thumb-art, cartoon drawings, etc)
• Journalism club
• Class gardens

Community

• Continue PTA outreach committee for community building (movie nights and bingo)
• Continue Buddy program between grades

Communication

• Student council section of star with information for parents

Facilities

• Maintain and enhance the Emergency Preparedness supplies
• Landscaping
• Additional projects contingent on amount of money raised
